Launch of new LILE rocket scheduled

January 2, 2012

It was scheduled the launch of the new LILE rocket for the first quarter of 2012. This rocket will have basically the same configuration of the original rocket, but with a new telemetry based on open-source platform Arduino.

The rocket will be scaled to support the telemetry and a new parachute recovery system. A ground station will also be developed to receive the signal from the rocket and localize it after the flight.

Despite of being old and relatively less complex than the Santos-Dummont rockets, the LILE rocket was chosen for this next mission precisely because of it extreme simplicity, so we can test several systems that will serve as basis for subsystems, like control system, in bigger rockets.
